"I originally met Don about 5 years ago , when I attended just one of his boxing classes. His skill and manner made such an impact on me that I remembered him several years later. About 3 months ago I mentioned to a friend I was searching for yet another trainer and he recommended someone who as it happens , turned out to be the Don I knew . Although the gym Don is based at is 20 minutes drive from my home which can be challenging , after the first session I didn't hesitate to commence training with him ,and now make the 40 minute round trip three times a week for my personal training sessions .
Don confidently guides you to achieving your goals , driving you to your limits and challenging you to go beyond them , but never risking you physically or emotionally. Always tempered with humor and encouragement his training is not about mediocrity. Don believes in focusing on correct technique to maximize results . He is a little scary , and although softly spoken can be a tough taskmaster but always with your best interest at heart and will not hesitate to share his knowledge .
As a trainer he is reliable , organized and his experience in the fitness industry is immediately evident. He has a disarming smile and sense of humor that almost makes you forget the pain he induces. Within four weeks of commencing a combination of cardio and weight training I lost 2% body fat and 2 kilos while retaining muscle mass. I've come to look forward to donning my boxing gloves and now aim , with Don's guidance , to continue improving my fitness and health . "I met Don Harris in Jan 2014 when I was looking to join a gym.
I had become fed up in my weight and diet and was looking to make a change! I had also just made myself a goal to do the Kokoda track in 18 month’s time (June 2015). I needed to get in shape. I weighed 72 kg (my heaviest in.. being pregnant) and was very unfit.
Don signed me up for a gym membership and showed me around the gym. I mentioned that he was personal trainer and previously trained someone else for Kokoda track. I was really only interested in a gym membership though.
Over the next couple of weeks as I attended the gym, Don continued to talk about the benefits of training sessions with me. I was still not interested as I has utilized the services of trainers before and found that they didn’t really help me achieve my goals. He offered me a free half hour session. “I thought “I don’t have anything to lose” So I said Yes!
During that session, Don stood out as a trainer that knows what he is doing. I needed him to guide me to Kokoda!
Don has a very sound knowledge of anatomy and body mechanics. Because of this I was able to observe the way my body moved and adjusted the exercises I performed according to both previous injuries I had sustained and their effects on my joints and flexibility.
Because of what I learned in that first session I was very impressed with Don’s approach to fitness and training. I decided to start One on One Personal Training with him. I have not looked back! With his guidance not only through exercise but also through nutrition and healthy eating plan, I have lost almost 16kg in 10 months.
I am fitter, stronger and healthier than I have been for 10 years. I feel 100% confident that I will reach my goal of trekking Kokoda in 2015. In fact I am considering bringing my trip forward by a couple of months so that I can be there on Anzac Day in April 2015. I know that with Don’s help I will reach all of my Fitness and Health goals.
